St Patty's

We really enjoyed celebrating this holiday this year. It started out when Brilynn went to school on Monday and they were setting up traps to catch Larry the Leperchaun who had messed up their classroom. So on Tuesday Brilynn came home and said that some of the kids had brought different traps to school and they had researched it on the internet. Brilynn asked me if I would go to the store and buy her some beer. I just about died and quickly asked her "WHY?????" She told me that her friend had found on the internet that if you give the leperchauns beer then it slows them down and then they are easier to catch. I had to try really hard not to laugh and we had a long discussion about why we wouldn't buy beer for the leperchauns. This included a short lesson on the word of wisdom, the appearance of evil (like what do you think people would do if they saw me buying beer in the store?) and guidlines for searching the internet. Later on I had a pretty good laugh about her comment and the funny this was that she was completely serious. Hopefully she learned something though. ANYWAY... Brilynn told John that he needed to get on the interent and find a trap so that we could catch our own leperchauns. This was John's contraption. He left a smore under the basket with hopes the leperchaun would knock over the stick while trying to get the treat. The leperchaun left a small trail while getting the snack but the trap didn't work. Brilynn and Maycie were pretty disappointed with the trap that John had set and Brilynn told him that next year he needs to search harder on the internet to find a better trap. Her suggestion was to get a garbage can and put glue in the bottom. Then lay a piece of tissue across the garbage can and place gold coins on the tissue. When the leperchaun tries to get the gold coins, he will fall through the tissue paper into the garbage can and be stuck to the glue. I have to admit, that probably was a better idea than John's trap:)For breatfast we had green milk, green eggs, and green frenchtoast. The leperchauns did leave a cute shirt and hairbows for the girls.
