4th Grade County Projects

Who would have known that the 4th grade county projects could be so....well OVERWHELMING???  I am actually very thankful for Brilynn's teach and all that she did for her class this year but that doesn't mean I was completely thrilled when we finished all the projects.  At the end of the year they did a program for the parents which was all about the state of utah and it's counties.  Brilynn had to dress up like a pioneer and her friend Londyn had to dress up like an indian.  Londyn had a pioneer costume that she told Brilynn she could borrow.  Thank Heavens Alive.  I was glad I didn't have to try to round that up.  I wanted to help Londyn out as well so I offered to let her use my old high school utes cheerleading uniform.  That's right...after 15 years this thing is still being used.  Who Knew????

We had to make a county float for her county.  They had to draw out of a hat their county and Brilynn picked Grand County.  In the fall we had planned a trip down to Moab and we were completely disappointed when the weather was horrible that weekend and we ended up canceling at the last minute.  She also had to have a product from that county to present to the class.  Grand County was pretty tricky.  After lots of emails and lots of phone calls I finally found a company called Intrepid Potash.  They were so kind and sent us lots of samples and information. It was actually very educational and even John and I learned something new.  Crazy...I know ;)

Then the had a Rendevous towards the end of school.  It consisted of games, crafts, and indian fry bread.  At the end of the day they had their Trading Post.  They had been earning pelts at school and the pelts were their money.  They had to bring something to sell at their post.  Brilynn made cute lip gloss and some mountain man drinks.

She ended up getting a 100% on her oral report and county projects.  She worked very hard and deserved every bit of it.  It was fun to see her get so involved and love learning about her county.  Good bye 4th grade see ya in 5th!!!
